Parmesan cheese is Italian hard, granular cheese made from unpasteurized cow's milk, and has aged 12-36 months.
It has been called the "King of Cheeses" and a "practically perfect food". Parmesan cheese is a good source of protein and fat. It's rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium, vitamin A, vitamins B6 and B12, phosphorus, zinc, and copper.
It is commonly grated over pasta dishes, stirred into soups and risottos, and eaten on its own. It is often shaved or grated over other dishes like salads.
